Steven Gershon received an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Reading
University (UK), and has taught in China, France, the UK and the United
States. He has been in Japan for 15 years and is currently an Associate
Professor at Obirin University, where he teaches undergraduate and
graduate courses in language assessment and course design. He is also
an active Asia regional conference presenter, focusing on his academic
interests of curriculum design, materials development, classroom methodology
and oral-skills testing. In addition, he is co-author of the listening
course Sound Bytes. When Steven is not teaching, writing or
presenting, he can usually be found under water, circling a coral
reef with a scuba tank strapped to his back.

Chris Mares is the Director of the
Intensive English Institute at the University of Maine. He also runs
a teacher training program and is an ESL consultant for local schools.
Chris has taught in the UK and the United States, and for many years
in Japan. He came into the profession by chance, stayed by choice,
and says he enjoys it more and more: "There are always new challenges
and interesting ways to tackle them." When not working, Chris
can be found mountain biking, sea kayaking, running or simply walking
his dog in the woods around Maine. |

Richard Walker has been involved
in ELT, through teaching and teacher training, for over 14 years.
He has taught in Japan, Spain and the UK, and has presented at conferences
in Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Thailand. Richard is currently studying
for his master's degree in Linguistics (TESOL) at Surrey University.
He is also Series Editor for On the Go / On the Move. Away
from the ELT world, Richard enjoys windsurfing, scuba diving, skiing
and playing and composing music. |
